A familiar face is returning to the latest season of The Block.

Auctioneer David Wood from Belle Property Albert Park will be returning to the popular real estate show for the 12th time to represent Tom and Sarah-Jane for house number one.

Mr Wood — who has bagged three wins in previous seasons of the popular series — said he is ready to return to the “ultimate” real estate program and help the plumber and social worker duo “take out the competition”.

And while Mr Wood is not a new kid on The Block, he expressed his admiration for the program upping the ante every season.

“Every year I’m blown away by the exceptionally high standards and this year is their biggest undertaking ever. It’s incredible to see the effort that goes into these homes,” he said.

The latest season comes with a fresh take on the show’s theme, as it embraces the tree-change lifestyle that has risen in popularity thanks to the pandemic.

In line with the tree-change theme, each contestant group is renovating a property located in Victoria’s regional town of Gisborne to ultimately create what was described to be a “luxurious country dream home”.

Sustainability is a central feature among the five competing properties, with all the homes off-grid and graded with a seven-star energy rating. The homes will also be equipped with a 1 million-litre water tank, geothermal heating and cooling, solar power and wastewater recycling.

Interestingly, it was revealed that Tom and Sarah-Jane had set their sights on partnering with Belle Property to represent them this year.

In one of the most recent episodes aired, it was shown that the tandem had to do some “stealthy maneuverings” to secure their preferred team, namely by putting in a call before the other contestants even had a chance.

Aside from locking in the sought-after auctioneer, Tom and Sarah-Jane also managed to secure the sales duo Natalie Fagan and Ashlee McKee from Belle Property Daylesford, who will drive the sales campaign of house number one.

The sales duo expressed they were “delighted to be chosen” to represent Tom and Sarah-Jane. “We can’t wait to bring as many quality buyers to House 1 for Tom and Sarah-Jane as possible,” they said.

Ms Fagan and Ms McKee added that their debut on the reality television series would give them the opportunity to present their region to a wider audience.

“We are so proud of where we live and work and it’s a great opportunity to showcase the Macedon/Gisborne region, which offers the perfect lifestyle balance for those wanting to live sustainably and ‘off-grid’ but still within easy reach of Melbourne,” Ms Fagan and Ms McKee said.

Belle Property’s chief executive Peter Hanscomb threw his support behind the national real estate group’s team participating in The Block’s campaign this year.

“Belle Property is honoured to participate in The Block once again, and we look forward to providing Natalie, Ashlee and David with all the tools and support they need for what will no doubt be a stand-out property marketing campaign for House 1,” Mr Hanscomb stated.

Weighing in on Tom and Sarah-Jane’s chance of emerging as the top Blockheads this season, Mr Hanscomb believes that the duo is strongly tipped to win.

“We wish Tom and Sarah-Jane every success in their Block journey this season and can’t wait to see their finished home — which given the high standards of their rooms so far, I think we can safely say they are strong contenders for a win in 2022,” he opined.
