CBRE has promoted industry veteran Henry Chin as the new global head of research.
In his new role, Chin will lead a team of nearly 600 research experts and guide their analysis of global real estate markets and sectors.
Under his leadership, the research team’s analysis will provide insights to property investors and occupiers to support their understanding of current commercial real estate markets.
Chin began his career in 2004 as a real estate analyst for the real estate investment management company, DTZ, in London.
Before joining CBRE, Chin held senior roles in research and investment strategy at PGIM (formerly Prudential Investment Management) and Deutsche Bank Group, where he spent six years.
Since joining CBRE in 2014 as head of research Asia-Pacific, Chin also served as global chief operating officer for CBRE research in 2024 and as head of Investor Thought Leadership from 2020 to 2024.
He also held the role of head of research for CBRE EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) from 2019 to 2020.
Chin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Land Economics and Administration from National Taipei University (Taiwan), a Master of Science in Real Estate from the University of Reading (UK), and a PhD in Real Estate Investment from Oxford Brookes University (UK).
CBRE’s chief operating officer and chief executive officer of advisory services, Vikram Kohli, said Chin is recognised for his insightful analysis of global real estate markers and sectors.
“CBRE and our clients will benefit from his focus on producing actionable insights and market intelligence that inform strategies for real estate investors and occupiers,” he said.
Chin said that a strong team of international research professionals meticulously conducts CBRE analyses.
“I am proud to have been selected to lead this team and look forward to building on the strong foundation that Richard has built over the past eight years,” he said.
“Our mission remains to provide clients with actionable intelligence that helps to inform their strategies.”
Chin’s new promotion will succeed Richard Barkham, Ph.D., who is set to retire at the end of June after serving 10 years as the global head of research for CBRE.
Kohli acknowledged Barkham’s contributions over the past decade, thanking him for advancing CBRE’s research capabilities.
“We thank Richard for the advancements he’s made to our research team and processes over the past 10 years and wish him all the best in the future,” Kohli said.
