Auction activity across the combined capital cities is set to rise from last week’s reduced volumes.

Cotality’s latest Auction Market Preview showed that auction volumes across the country are scheduled to slightly increase from the previous week, with 1,553 homes scheduled for auction over the week ending 20 July 2025.

The week’s auction numbers mark an increase from the 1,432 homes taken to auction during the week ending 13 July 2025, but register lower than the 1,777 auctions held this time last year.

Melbourne is set to be the busiest auction market this week, with the 628 properties up for auction holding steady from last week’s volumes, but numbering lower than the 767 homes held in the city one year prior.

Sydney’s auction volume is also expected to increase, with the 609 homes scheduled for auction marking an increase on the 556 auctions held last week, and 605 homes that went under the hammer this time last year.

Brisbane’s 154 homes up for auction are expected to mark the highest activity across the smaller capital cities, and mark an increase on the 102 auctions held during the week ending 13 July 2025.

Adelaide’s auction volume is also set to rise week-on-week, with the 98 homes set for auction increasing from the previous week’s 75 recorded auctions.

Canberra’s 54 homes scheduled for auction are expected to mark a slight decline from the 60 homes that were taken to auction last week.

Perth currently has six homes scheduled for auction, which is down from the previous week when nine properties were taken to auction.

Auction activity is set to double from last week’s volumes in Tasmania, with four houses currently scheduled for auction during the week ending 20 July 2025.

Looking ahead, Cotality forecasts that auction activity will increase next week, with around 1,700 homes currently scheduled to go under the hammer in the week ending 27 July 2025.
