One of Brisbane’s most trusted and high-performing agents, Michael Hatzifotis, has taken the next step in his career by opening Place South Brisbane, a new office in the heart of the West Village precinct.

“I wouldn’t have chosen anywhere else to take this step. Place combines high-level support with a brand reputation that truly sets you up for success,” Michael said.

With more than a decade of experience, accolades including South Brisbane’s #1 selling agent, and recognition as a finalist in the REA Excellence Awards, Michael says launching his own Place office was a long-held ambition.

“Working under the strong leadership of Simon and Courtney Caulfield at Place Kangaroo Point over the past eight years has equipped me with the discipline, skills and insights to thrive in my own office in the areas I service,” Michael said.

“4101 is emerging as a key gateway to the Olympics, and the growth and development in the area makes South Brisbane, West End and Highgate Hill incredibly attractive locations to buy, invest and sell in right now. The timing feels right, both for me and for the market,” he said.

Michael said his office will deliver an approach that is transparent, enthusiastic and results-driven; values that have underpinned his career to date.

“That’s what motivates me, and that’s what this office will stand for,” he shared.

Place CEO, Damian Hackett, said the expansion demonstrates Place’s strategy of partnering with the city’s top agents to scale with purpose.

“Michael has built a reputation as one of Brisbane’s most trusted and high-performing agents. His energy, honesty and commitment to his clients are second to none,” Damian said.

“Our growth is measured and strategic as we look ahead to 2032, with new offices planned across Brisbane and beyond. For more than two decades, Place has redefined the real estate model. With that foundation, our platform, Place HQ, gives business owners everything they need to succeed, so they can focus on listing, selling, leasing and serving clients.”

Q&A with Michael Hatzifotis, Place South Brisbane

Q: Why did you choose to align with Place?
A: Place is more than a brand; it’s a platform. The systems, support and culture are unmatched in Brisbane. Having worked closely with Place leaders for years, I knew that if I ever opened an office, it had to be with Place. The brand is synonymous with trust, results and community, values that align perfectly with how I work with clients.

Q: What excites you most about opening Place South Brisbane?
A: South Brisbane, West End and Highgate Hill are at the heart of Brisbane’s transformation in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympics. The opportunity here is enormous, from the infrastructure boom to the strong demand for inner-city living. I’m excited to lead a team that can really serve this community during such a pivotal time.

Q: How will your office stand out in a competitive market?
A: We’ll combine Place’s proven systems with a personal, transparent and enthusiastic approach. My clients know me for being results-driven, but also for making the experience enjoyable. Our office will be a hub where people feel supported, whether they’re buying, selling or investing.

Q: Where do you see the growth opportunities in 4101?
A: Apartments remain in high demand, but we’re also seeing increasing appetite for boutique houses and off-the-plan projects. With the Olympics on the horizon, 4101 is positioned as a gateway suburb that will only become more sought-after. It’s an exciting time to be part of the story here.

Q: What’s your long-term vision for Place South Brisbane?
A: I want this office to become the go-to choice for anyone buying or selling in 4101. Beyond that, I see us as a team that grows with the community, supporting local development, being present at events, and building lasting relationships. The goal is to create a legacy, not just a business.
