A Brisbane agent was left fighting for his life following an attack by two dogs in a park on Friday the 16th of October.

Ajay Malik, director of Artier Property Group, was running through Seventh Brigade Park in Chermside, Queensland, in the evening when he was attacked by a pair of dogs.

He suffered significant injuries to his face and arms and was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he remained in a stable condition.

In a statement to 7NEWS, Malik’s wife said they were shocked and traumatised by the event, and that he faced a long road to recovery.

The outlet reported that the dogs escaped from a tent in the park, were later secured, and were surrendered to Brisbane City Council.

“Both dogs involved are now in council possession and a decision on their future will be made as soon as possible,” the council told 7NEWS.

The incident involved officers firing their weapons at the animals, which fled, leading the police to use a helicopter to find the dogs.

A police spokesperson said the attending officers faced an immediate and serious safety risk and had to discharge their weapons in response.

The owner of the dogs, Layla Evans, told 9News the dogs were protective of her and her partner but were “really good dogs”.

“Shattered, I’m shattered to bits,” Evans said.

Police arrested Evans on an unrelated matter.
