KPMG has relocated its Greater Western Sydney office, settling in a newly outfitted space that aims to promote green design and employee wellbeing.

Following a move from Phillip Street, the global professional services network now has over 500 staff based in a newly furnished office in Parramatta Square, one of Australia’s largest commercial precincts.

Located in the rapidly expanding CBD, the new office is touted by the firm as purposefully designed to promote employee wellbeing and accommodate growth.

“The upgraded space will allow KPMG to continue its strong history of supporting businesses in the GWS region, with KPMG having first established a presence here in February 2015,” said KPMG Greater Western Sydney partner Kaylene Hubbard.

The firm’s updated, new-and-improved space comes amidst the height of a trend of businesses striving to retain top talent and foster a sense of community in the workplace by providing an enhanced environment for employees to collaborate and enjoy their work experience when they report to the office.

In line with this goal, the new office reportedly has several notable features that aim to enhance the workspace experience, including an open-air terrace, a Client + Connect space for informal meetings, a reflection room with a foot bath, an all-gender bathroom, a TechZone, and a Staff Wellbeing area with a ping pong table to help the staff de-stress.

“We’ve created a space that will draw people together to connect and collaborate,” Ms Hubbard explained.

In addition to prioritising employee wellbeing, the new office at 3 Parramatta Square also incorporates green features designed to reduce KPMG’s carbon footprint and support the firm’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions.

The building has been classified as a low environmental footprint building, with a six-star Green Star design and six-star Green Star interiors rating, demonstrating its high level of sustainability and energy and resource efficiency optimisation.

Notably, the office also reaffirms KPMG’s social responsibility goals with an artwork created by local Indigenous students from Doonside Technology High School, who have had a mentoring relationship with KPMG employees in Parramatta for over six years.

The firm indicated that the community relationship will continue in the new office, with plans for future mentoring sessions later this year.

Ms Hubbard emphasised that for the past eight years, the firm has taken pride in providing a “diverse and flexible work environment” that reflects the region and its population.

She highlighted that Parramatta’s CBD, which is forecast to grow by 73 per cent in population over the next two decades, has observed an infrastructure focus over the last few years, citing the newly opened Bankwest Stadium, an upgraded Riverside Theatre, and several new residential towers, among other key projects.

Ms Hubbard added that the firm’s new base also cements KMPG’s presence in Greater Western Sydney.

“It really is an environment that facilitates innovative and flexible working. We have a great office culture in our GWS office and a high presence of staff already. This new office will take this even further,” she stated.
