Founded by a career anti-money laundering specialist, the firm's FlowAML platform gives agents and buyer's agents the compliance capability that banks run entire departments to deliver
SYDNEY, Australia, 14 July 2026: When AUSTRAC's Tranche 2 reforms took effect on 1 July, the principal of a four-person suburban agency inherited the same anti-money laundering obligations that banks assign to whole departments. AML Partners, founded by former bank compliance specialist John Nguyen, has signed more than 300 property businesses in four months by taking that burden off their desks.
The reforms bring an estimated 80,000 businesses into Australia's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) regime for the first time, including real estate agents, buyer's agents, conveyancers, property developers, accountants, and lawyers.
Newly captured businesses must enrol with AUSTRAC by 29 July 2026, and penalties of up to for non-compliance reach $33 million for companies and $6.6 million for individuals.
AML Partners' FlowAML solution is a purpose-built platform covering customer due diligence, identity verification, politically exposed persons (PEP) and sanctions screening, and suspicious matter reporting into a single workflow.
The software provides clients with an end to end service, 100% outsourced AML service. AML Partners also writes each client's AML/CTF program, trains their staff and manages ongoing monitoring and reviews on their behalf.
“I spent more than 10 years inside banks, and this work took whole floors of people,” said John Nguyen, founder of AML Partners, whose career spans Commonwealth Bank, ANZ, Suncorp and Ernst & Young.
“FlowAML was built so that person can complete a check in a few minutes and trust that the screening and record-keeping behind it would stand up in any bank I have worked in. Our clients never have to become compliance officers. That is our job.”
AML Partners draws on a global screening network that has completed 60 million checks across 195 countries.
Its clients include agencies operating within networks such as Ray White, LJ Hooker, Harcourts, Belle Property, PRD and Christie's International, alongside a fast-growing group of buyer's agents including Henderson Advocacy, Investor Kit, House Finder, Your Property Your wealth and many more.
“Three hundred businesses in four months tells me agencies want to do this properly,” Nguyen said. “They just need someone to make it do-able.”
