Two agents have highlighted the value of technology in the ever-changing real estate industry, as the 2016 REB REinnovate conference draws near.

Residential HQ principal Alana Gargaro and Richardson & Wrench national operations manager Amy Bruce were among the delegates at last year’s conference, and both said the event proved to be of tremendous value to their businesses.

Ms Gargaro, who operates a mobile business, relies heavily on technology for her day-to-day work. She said attending the event allowed her to gain prospecting ideas which enhance her value proposition to customers.

“Being my own business, set up from home, I rely on my phone with data to constantly check emails and respond to any inquiry when I’m out and about,” she said.

“All my database is cloud-based so I can access all my data/files anywhere in the world if needed.”

Instead of viewing technology as “disruptive”, Ms Gargaro believes more agents should look at technology, and technology-driven events, as an opportunity to boost their business.

“I find it has helped enhance business and presented many opportunities,” she said.

“In particular, I feel it has benefited agents with kids. I also feel, used correctly, it helps time-poor people.”

Ms Gargaro added that she encourages all agents, regardless of experience, to attend this year’s REinnovate conference.

“I think it's great for new agents and even the ‘old school’ agents, to help become aware of what is out there as real estate and technology are constantly changing,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ms Bruce said attending last year's conference gave her the opportunity to explore options she would not have normally considered.

“It was just a really great opportunity for me to sit down and have a look at what was available to the agents and get a really great understanding of the technology and the developments in technology for the real estate industry,” Ms Bruce said.

“I think if you want to keep up to date on technology then [the event] is a really great way to do it.”

For agents attending this year’s conference, Ms Bruce has some key advice.

“Get around, network, have a look at the products, look at what’s on offer and ask a lot of questions,” she said.

“It’s great to sit in a forum and have people presenting to you but most people generally learn by doing, so having that ability to meet with [the speakers] beforehand is great.”

The 2016 REinnovate conference will be held at The Star Event Centre in Sydney on April 5.

The one-day conference will deliver practical insights on how to achieve fast growth by mastering and applying the latest available technology tools as a way to generate more leads, enhance profits and boost productivity.

Following the REinnovate conference, REB’s Top 100 Agents 2016 will commence, unveiling the best real estate agents across the country.
