Property managers should be aware of termites when inspecting properties, with fears of an increase in pest numbers during spring.
According to Jim’s Pest Control, 50 franchisees Australia-wide have reported an increase in call-outs concerning wasps and termites in spring, with fears for a real problem over summer if they are not dealt with now.
"We have noticed a marked increase particularly in wasps and also termites," said Jim's Pest Control Divisional Manager John Paton.
"Termites are harder to spot, but can be causing enormous damage to your property," John said.
Property managers are advised to find out if any of their properties are in a termite prone area.
During inspections, look for holes or voids in the wood. Other signs include crumbling drywall, window sills or door frames and sagging doors and floors.
However, it is advised to not kill or disturb termites yourself as this can cause them to spread, making eradication more difficult.
