LPMA launches interactive conference app

A dedicated app has been developed for delegates of the 2013 LPMA conference, providing attendees with a multitude of features and tools.

Bob Walters, executive director of Leading Property Managers of Australia (LPMA), told Residential Property Manager that the new app for the April event was unique.

“People are now using mobile devices for everyday business,” Mr Walters said.

“So rather than go on the internet with a laptop, they can access information on the event wherever they might be.”

The LPMA 2013 app is available for free in the app store for both iPhone and iPad, as well as on Android platforms. It will be used as part of LPMA 2013, which is being held on the Gold Coast on April 18 to 19 and includes speakers Bernie Mitchell, Allan Pease, John Shackleton and Deniz Yusuf.

“Throughout the event, there will be various breakout sessions running at the same time. So delegates can pick and choose which session they want to go to and it will drop it into a schedule for them, so they don’t accidently double-book themselves," Mr Walters explained.

“The app also sends out alerts about what sessions are starting and in what rooms they’re in.”

The app also hosts a myriad of helpful information for non-locals.

“For people who aren’t from the Gold Coast, the app provides information on accommodation as well as transport to and from the airport. There is also an entire section dedicated to helpful maps,” said Mr Walters.

Sponsors aren’t forgotten on the mobile platform either. Mr Walters said the app will send alerts to attendees when a sponsor is about to demonstrate their product, as well as guide them to their stall.

“I guess you could say that people can find most of this information on their own in the booklets we give out, but almost everyone has a smartphone in their pocket, so it saves people rummaging through bags when they need to know where the next session is," he said.

“It also allows us to see what speakers were the most popular, and delegates can evaluate the conference afterwards through the app.”
