Seven-day trading pays off for award-winning PM

RE/MAX Success Toowoomba has been open for business seven days a week for the past 14 years, a service offering its award-winning property manager believes sets it apart from its competitors.

“We are the only business that provides a full seven-day property management service in our area,” RE/MAX Success Toowoomba principal Katie Knight told Residential Property Manager.

“We are in the field every day. We have staff in our office. Our office is open seven days.

“So we provide open houses, tenancy sign ups, entry reports, exit reports over that period.

“Anything you can do during the week, you can do on a Saturday or a Sunday with us.”

As a regional property manager, RE/MAX Success Toowoomba receives plenty of enquiry from Brisbane residents during the weekend when other property managers are closed for business.

“We only really hit the deck at around midday on Saturday, and traditionally that is when a lot of real estate agencies cease their property management services for the weekend,” Ms Knight said.

“We pick up the balance of that enquiry because we are the ones that are there, available and ready to roll.”

The simple strategy appears to be paying off, with Ms Knight being named Residential Property Manager of the Year by the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) for the fourth year running.

However, their competitors are not showering them with praise.

“In our area there is a real push to block us from trading seven days,” Ms Knight said. “Other agents [may] fear they might have to do the same."

While it is expensive to pay staff on Sundays, the cost is worth the reward of referrals and new management contracts, Ms Knight said.

“We see it as an avenue to grow the business,” she said.
