Video inspections attract high-end clients

An Auckland-based property management company has successfully tapped into the affluent market by introducing high-quality inspection videos for clients.

For the past year and a half Wendell Property Management’s international clients have enjoyed detailed videos that showcase the property during the tenant’s occupation.

Business development manager Natalie Wendell said a lot of homeowners were attracted to the company because of the offering.

“A lot of professionals, doctors, top executives in banking and finance who rent their family home while they live overseas for a number of years love the idea behind this," she said.

“They like to see details like how the trees in the backyard are growing. It’s the softer touches they’re looking for.”

While Ms Wendell admits that photos are great, she believes they can’t compare to video.

“There’s nothing like feeling as if you’re standing in your own backyard, looking around and seeing things in perspective," she said.

“It also gives them confidence that the tenants are taking care of it for them. Many investors think that tenants are second-class citizens, but they’re not, and this helps show them that we have chosen good tenants who take pride in their home.”

Being able to tap into a high net-worth community has not only allowed Wendell to attract affluent landlords, but quality tenants too.

“All the big companies, big banks and hospitals have networks in and between them, and we get really high referral rates through them," said Ms Wendell.

“It’s interesting because people in this demographic have a particular style they’re attracted to, so naturally when it comes to renting out the doctor’s or the executive’s home, we get doctors and bankers looking at it.”
