The South Australian government has unveiled a new online service for tenants and landlords that it says will allow for the secure online and paperless management of residential bonds.

The move is part of the state government’s continued drive to cut red tape for South Australians.

Minister for business services and consumers Gail Gago said the Residential Bonds Online service has been designed to speed up and simplify the processes associated with residential bonds.

“This will benefit landlords, agents and tenants by enabling easier communication between parties and faster transactions. A transaction that once took weeks can now be done almost instantly," she said.

Ms Gago added the system allows real estate agents, self-managed landlords and tenants to lodge refunds and manage their bonds "any time of the day or night, and to monitor them from anywhere in the world".

"The state government is committed to reducing red tape and freeing up time for South Australians to do the things they’d rather be doing,” said Ms Gago.
