It may seem impossible, but there are still places in Australia with average weekly rentals of less than $150.

Statistics provided by Corelogic RP Data for January 2015 showed towns in Victoria and Tasmania dominated the top 10 as most affordable to rent.

Newborough in central Victoria topped the list, with an average weekly rent of $120. This was down from $140 in January 2014.

Queenstown in Tasmania recorded an average weekly rent of $143, which remained unchanged from January last year.

Next came Millicent in South Australia, which fell from $190 to $148.

Central Victoria made its second appearance in the top 10, with Moe also decreasing in average weekly rent from $210 to $150.

Both Zeehan and Roseberry, situated in Tasmania, recorded an average asking rent of $150.

Zeehan’s rent fell slightly from $153 in January 2014, while Roseberry had no data available for the previous year.
