A one-bedroom apartment in north-east London has sold for $66,800 above reserve despite its unusual bathroom layout.

According to The Guardian, the home’s bathroom is set up with the toilet at the top of a flight of stairs with its own safety handrail (see below).

The property fetched £306,000 ($659,990) at auction and was previously on the rental market for £1,400 ($3,020) a month.

The apartment isn't the first strange London listing of the year, with Mirror reporting a 19 square metre studio apartment with combined bedroom/kitchen/laundry hitting the rental market for £804 ($1,734) per month.
