New statistics from Onthehouse.com.au revealed that rents have increased in all capital cities except for Perth and Darwin.
The biggest increase was recorded in Hobart where houses jumped 4.2 per cent to $370 from February 2015 to February 2016, while units fell 1.7 per cent to $285.
Melbourne’s rent for houses remained unchanged at $445 and units climbed 2.5 per cent to $405 over the same period.
In Sydney, the weekly rent for houses rose 0.8 per cent to $645 and units jumped 1.9 per cent to $550.
Adelaide’s rent for houses jumped 1.4 per cent to $375 and units rose 1.6 per cent to $310.
In Brisbane, houses climbed 1.1 per cent to $450, while units rose 1.3 per cent to $385.
In ACT rent for houses remained unchanged at $500, while units rose 1.2 per cent to $410.
Darwin’s rent for houses fell 7.4 per cent $560 and units dropped 9.3 per cent to $440.
In Perth, the weekly rent for houses dropped 7.6 per cent to $425 and units fell 8.1 per cent to $395.
Across the country, the weekly rent for houses remained unchanged at $425, while units rose 1.2 per cent to $420.
