An online accommodation provider aims to connect landlords with students who are searching for housing.

Ricardo Gutierrez, founder of Bedssi, said the online service is working with educational institutions as well as councils, local governments and communities to provide safe and convenient accommodation for students.

Mr Gutierrez said a vital part of Bedssi’s service is providing confidence to the community by verifying each individual user and contacting every new host.

“Users need to validate their email and mobile phone number, and need to produce a couple more offline/digital IDs.”

According to Mr Gutierrez, Bedssi provides tools for landlords to control and approve bookings.

“Landlords can also offer add-ons such as airport pick up or linen provided, which gives them the possibility of making extra income while providing something that the students need,” he said.

Mr Gutierrez said landlords can choose the accepted payment methods and necessary bonds or even have Bedssi manage all payments for the entire booking.

“We worked very hard to produce a system that is intuitive and that provides both landlords and guests with the necessary tools to make informed decisions.”

According to Mr Gutierrez, landlords and property managers can list houses, apartments or rooms for free in minutes, with only a small success fee charged after the property has been rented.

“Real estate agents can use Bedssi as another avenue to create awareness about their brand and the properties they manage; they can sign up as a business,” he said.

“Given the huge amount of students looking for rooms every year, Bedssi gives [agents] the opportunity to grow their brand exposure.”
