Forget horse riding, sailing and fencing, there’s a new hobby for wealthy children – property ownership.

La Petite Maison Playhouses is an American company that produces stunning playhouses featuring palatial exteriors, bespoke additions and even running water, according to Mirror.

Former commercial builder Alan Mowrer, the designer of these mini-mansions, said he conceived the idea for the elaborate creations while building a Wendy house for his daughter.

“I wanted to create something really elaborate for her Barbies. But I get a lot of satisfaction building the houses for clients,” he said.

These luxury playhouses are significantly more costly than an average toy, starting at $AU12,000 and heading upwards of $AU100,000, with each one built to order.
