Barry Plant’s Property Management Department of the Year manages more than 1,000 properties and employs a number of strategies to ensure ongoing success.

At the recent Barry Plant 17th Annual Awards for Excellence – held at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium and attended by almost 1,000 people – Barry Plant Niddrie-Keilor East-Essendon won the award for Property Management Department of the Year.

The office had net growth of 14 per cent over the 2015-2016 period, compared to a net growth of 10 per cent the previous year.

Barry Plant said the winning agency had put energy into providing the best “red carpet experience” through staff training, improved systems and community engagement.

In addition, staff attended training events organised by head office, as well as internal and external seminars. The agency also implemented regular reviews and brainstorming sessions to iron out issues, with an unwavering focus on customer service.

The systems and processes in place at the award-winning agency make it stand out, according to the Barry Plant head office.

“Always looking for ways to improve, the department pursues ongoing reviews of forms and procedures. There is a strict adherence to systems to ensure that property inspections, maintenance and lease renewals are followed to the letter, and the department has introduced loyalty surveys for landlords and tenants,” it said.

Co-business owner and department manager Frank Bernardelle was also praised for his availability to support his staff and liaise with clients when required.

“Frank provides advice and guidance for other offices and he is also a willing reference point for various property management products that he has rigorously tested.”

The department employs 10 full-time staff.
