More renters than expected have adopted renter ‘resumes’ for their applications, in an emerging trend that could result in significant time savings for property managers.
Rent.com.au announced earlier this month that its Renter Resume feature had been used for more than 5,000 applications, with more than 7,000 resumes created, within two weeks of launching.
Rent.com.au chief executive officer Greg Bader said the simplicity of the product appeals to renters and property managers.
“Online applications save time for both renters and property agents, yet industry-wide most applications today are still received via paper forms,” Mr Bader said.
The shift to digital applications is in line with data from a Rent.com.au presentation to investors in October which showed 58 per cent of renters believed the renting process was “still too inefficient” and should be online.
The presentation also cited evidence that Australian landlords preferred good tenants to higher rents and said that “both sides of the customer equation want the same thing”.
“Our goal is to always present our renter in the best possible light and to highlight known positives –tenure/good tenancy, references (landlord, agent), identification confirmation, national tenancy database checks, employment status,” investors were told at the event.
