Staff at a boutique agency in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs braved the winter chill to sleep outdoors as part of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

PhilipWebb Real Estate’s management team took part in the annual fundraising event held by the St Vincent de Paul Society last week.

Business leaders across the country lent their support to the event, raising $700,000 for Vinnie’s soup vans and other volunteer services that help the homeless.

PhilipWebb raised $4,604 from contributions from staff, suppliers and clients.

Six members of PhilipWebb’s management tea, including general manager of sales Anthony Webb, participated in the sleepout.

They slept on a piece of cardboard and were given a modest dinner by volunteers. They also spoke with people experiencing poverty and homelessness.

Mr Webb said the agency was proud of its “strong ties” with the local community.

“The experience was an extremely enriching one for all staff involved,” he said.

“We are proud to have continued this association by joining the 2017 CEO Sleepout.”

PhilipWebb Real Estate has operated in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs for more than 45 years and is  one of the largest non-franchised agencies in the area.

The sleepout was held overnight on June 22 at the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus.
