One niche network has marked off a significant growth milestone in opening its first regional office on Friday, signaling its intent to expand its footprint beyond Sydney in NSW.

Stone Real Estate Illawarra is the boutique brand’s first office outside metropolitan Sydney, with two of Wollongong’s most successful agents, Michael Schlegel and Paul Piacentin, at the helm.

The pair bring over 30 years local market experience to the new franchise, citing Stone’s unique business model as the reason they chose to join the developing network.

“I have long held a passion to be part of a real estate company that offers a different more coherent approach to property services, and that is exactly what Stone provides,” said Mr Piacentin.

“Stone’s system streamlines communications to create a far superior way of delivering property services, not only for customers but also for its franchisees. It is truly remarkable what they have created, and it’s the ideal way for us to move forward in this increasingly dynamic region.”

Jackie Puffitt completes the Stone Illawarra team as new general manager.

The Stone group has plans to increase its presence in the region with offices in Dapto, Kiama and the northern Illawarra.

Franchise manager Luke Cameron said Sydneysiders and empty nesters are big drivers of the Wollongong market.

“The Illawarra franchise is an ideal fit in our regional expansion plans to open in key lifestyle markets throughout NSW and eventually Australia,” said Mr Cameron.

Wollongong is NSW’s third largest city.
