One of Australia’s oldest agencies is positioning itself to become a powerhouse with the appointment of a new leadership team.

Buxton, which started in Melbourne in the 1800s, has hired some of the industry’s best and brightest to bring the group into the new age.

Leading the team is CEO Nathan Jones, who was formerly with NAB and Macquarie Bank and joined Buxton in 2012 before becoming CEO in 2015 at the age of 32.

Mr Jones is joined in the team by Nigel O’Neil, the former CEO of Hockingstuart who joined Buxton as an executive director in late 2016, as well as Mark Earle, Chris Hassall, Ben Riddle, David Hart and Craig Williamson.

Mark Earle, the director of Buxton Sandringham, is to become chairman of the board, working alongside number 27 in REB Top 100 ranking, Chris Hassall.

Mr Hassall, as director of Buxton Bentleigh, will run the informal training for the group.

The leadership group is now heavily concentrated to those in their 30s and early 40s, which is a “rarity” in traditional real estate circles.

Together, the new leadership team will turn Buxton into “the most progressive, culture-first real estate business in Australia”.

“Our focus is on continually developing culture, leadership and technology, while not forgetting the foundation of personal relationships and how connected that is to our customer experience,” Mr Jones said.

Mr Jones has created his team to capture a moving marketplace which favours self-service models that offer faster and easier services.

“The real estate industry is not immune to these changing trends, and matching needs to service is what we emphasise in our strategic development of the group,” the CEO said.

“The new leadership team wants to drive great people to great places and have a lot of fun along the way. That’s our culture.”
