A real estate software start-up headquartered in Brisbane has announced that it will open its first United Kingdom-based office.

Rex Software will open an office in London to better serve its clients there and act as a springboard into Europe.

It said that it has acquired the business of Spicerhaart, the UK’s largest independent real estate agency chain with 200 offices, in preparation for the expansion.

CEO and co-founder Anton Babkov said that it is a really exciting step for Rex.

“It’s another way for us to bring a better product to our current and prospective users,” the CEO said.

Mr Babkov said that Rex Software was bootstrapped with $100,000 in capital in 2010, when it had just 15 users.

“For the first few years of operation, the company had a heavy focus on supporting the boutique agency segment.

“Working intimately with boutique agencies has allowed us to create unique and innovative features in the Rex CRM. We’re ready to take that — and a whole lot of new ideas — to a new market.”

Mr Babkov added that having a base in the UK allows Rex Software to acquire “on-the-ground knowledge”.

“The UK and Australian markets are very similar but very different at the same time.

“There are lots of things we can learn from the UK market and vice versa, and we are very excited to be in a position that allows us to cross-pollinate innovation in our product.”

Spicerhaart CIO Steve Lamb said that he is confident the partnership with Rex will support its ongoing business objectives.

“The UK market is shifting, so we’re doing two things: we’re enabling ourselves with the best technology through our CRM initiative — affectionately dubbed ‘Rosie’ — and we’re accessing a whole new set of best-practice strategies from the Australian market,” Mr Lamb said.

“We needed a robust, yet simple and usable, system focused on effective selling and customer satisfaction, but we still needed to be nimble. With Rex, we have operational certainty, plus a platform that will evolve with us.”
