LJ Hooker and Harvey have named and recognised their top two agents across Australia and New Zealand at their International Awards held last week on Hamilton Island.

Principal of LJ Hooker Lithgow Jamie Giokaris was awarded the esteemed Sir Leslie Hooker accolade, while LJ Hooker Canberra Group’s Matthew Herbert was inducted into the Hall of Fame after more than 37 years with the brand.

Mr Giokaris commenced his real estate career with LJ Hooker Lithgow in 1992, becoming a partner of the business in 2003 and the sole owner in 2010.

He said that he was thrilled to win the Sir Leslie Hooker award.

“It’s an absolute honour. I feel humbled and honoured to receive  it,” the principal said.

“I’ve been part of the LJ Hooker family for 26 years, so I’m well qualified to say it’s absolutely amazing.

“The brand is as strong as ever and I’m proud to be a business owner with such a great, iconic Australian brand. I think we’re going to have great times ahead, especially with what’s been developed across our digital platforms.”

LJ Hooker Canberra Group’s Matthew Herbert was inducted into the Hall of Fame after more than 37 years with the brand.

Mr Herbert heads up the LJ Hooker Canberra City, Dickson, Gungahlin, Kaleen, Kippax, Weston Creek, Woden, Project Marketing ACT and Tuggeranong offices.

“It is an honour to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I have always enjoyed being a part of the LJ Hooker family and I am grateful to be recognised in this capacity,” Mr Herbert said.

“I want to thank my team for all their hard work and the broader LJ Hooker brand for their support over the years.”

Graeme Hyde, network chief of LJ Hooker, explained that the Sir Leslie Hooker award recognises the business owner who creates a thriving office culture, is a leader within the group, gives back to the local community and provides support and leadership in the LJ Hooker network.

He said that Mr Giokaris had shown “great dedication” to both his work and the LJ Hooker brand.

Mr Hyde said: “Jamie is someone that gives back tirelessly to the network, happily opens his office to anyone who wishes to visit and is happy to share his philosophy on customers and how he’s built an enviable business.”

Equally, Mr Hyde said that he was pleased to induct Mr Herbert into the Hall of Fame.

“He began his career in the industry in 1981 by joining the family business at LJ Hooker Belconnen as a property manager.

“Within two years, he had moved to the sales environment, enjoying instant success, and then to an ownership role in 1984. From 1986 to 1989, Matt played an integral role in the opening of offices in Kippax and Kaleen, before moving to open the Dickson office in 1990.”

Mr Hyde said that Mr Herbert has gone on to open a number of other offices across the ACT.

“Matt is a once-in-a-generation real estate mentor, leader and thought provoker that has not only stood the test of time through resilience and hard work but has helped shape the careers of hundreds of agents.

“Matt has been a significant factor that has helped shape LJ Hooker into the powerhouse it is today, especially in the ACT, and were proud to induct him into our Hall of Fame.”

The International Awards night took place during a three-day conference, Pinnacle, on Hamilton Island for the group’s two brands, LJ Hooker and Harvey.

The awards recognise the top performers across Australia and New Zealand.
