One of RE/MAX’s top performers has been recognised as one of regional Queensland’s most influential people.
RE/MAX Precision’s Scott Mackey was recognised as this year’s Bundaberg Power 50’s biggest climber, rising from 50th spot to 26th.
Power 50 recognised Mr Mackey as being well connected both within the region and outside it, having “played a key role in brokering big projects and selling the region internationally”. It acknowledged his business acumen, which has resulted in numerous real estate industry awards.
Mr Mackey’s real estate career spans 23 years, all of it in Bundaberg.
He said that he knows his market inside out, adding that the regional city “ticks boxes” for both locals and outside-Bundaberg investors. Mr Mackey added that he has actively targeted the latter, making it his business to go “where the buyers are”.
Mr Mackey is widely recognised for the work he’s done in Bundaberg’s sister town in China, Nanning.
“Bundaberg has significant assets to investors coming from the congested city of Nanning. Food supply is such a big thing. We can farm 12 months of the year, and food supply is a worrying matter in some other marketplaces. Bundaberg offers good education facilities and a great lifestyle also.”
He said that he values the connections he’s made as long-term injections.
“Some people have struggled in our region, which has been a bit flat for around a decade, so my focus is on building investment partnerships that inject cash and confidence, which helps the whole of the region.”
Mr Mackey also said that he will continue to forge ties to promote the region’s resources, property and lifestyle.
“We are building relationships as in any ongoing real estate business, and agents who want to grow their business should constantly explore opportunities in other markets.”
Power 50 is put together by News Mail in association with Central Queensland University. The list is compiled through consideration of what makes a contender influential.
More than 100 names were put forward for consideration in the selection of the region’s most influential.
