Fires continue to rage across Australia. As they leave a trail of destruction, families have been displaced, which is why one agency has decided to give back this festive season.

There have been 140 fires across New South Wales and Queensland, and many are still not contained.

More than a thousand homes have been torched by the flames, which has left many families homeless.

Dozens of fires will continue to burn over the coming weeks, making Christmas uncertain for many families. To try and contain the raging infernos, 1,600 firefighters are on the front line.

As many families will be in a tough position this year, Ray White Rural has donated $100,000 to Drought Angels to support those farming families in need these holidays.

“We like to tell our farmers that this is not a handout but a thank-you. Thank you for all you do to put the food on our tables because without you, we would all go hungry,” Drought Angels founder Tash Johnston said.

“This donation will enable us to give 1,000 farming families a $100 prepaid Visa card so they can buy presents for Christmas and the like.

“It’s not charity; it’s a thank-you, not a handout, and the number has grown in the wake of the devastating bushfires.”

The charity has about 4,500 families registered across the country who need support. And the number of farmers who are struggling is growing each year, especially in the wake of the bushfires.
