More than $37,000 has gone to Victorians in need, thanks to a state-based network’s foundation’s work.

The OBrien Real Estate Foundation managed to raise the $37,500 in the first quarter of 2021, which is being distributed to nine local community groups.

The financial assistance aims to alleviate some of the concerns faced by Victorians over the past year, according to the real estate group.

Local schools, community initiatives, charities and NGOs are among those groups to benefit from the foundation’s work.

The foundation’s chairman, Stavros Ambatzidis, acknowledged: “Victorians over the last 15 months have been challenged more than ever.

“We have many local heroes in our community, many that have shown more resilience and dedication than ever.

“These heroes work in community groups and organisations that support much-needed community members and it’s tough for these groups to get funding. We love seeing the positive impacts our sponsorships have, and we believe that giving back is extremely important.”

Highlighting that many members of OBrien Real Estate share personal affiliations with the community groups assisted by the foundation, Mr Ambatzidis said “it’s great that we can support them like a family does”.

Among the organisations granted funding in the past three months are Southern Cross Kids Camp, Life Central Services, Gethsemane Charity Incorporated, Life’s Little Treasures Foundation, BackPacks for Kids, Australian Animal Protection Society, Dogs for Kids (DFK), Berwick Secondary College and Foothills Community Care Family Retreat Weekend.

The OBrien Real Estate Foundation has been in operation since 2018 and distributes grants to groups every quarter.

Of every property sale achieved by the network’s real estate agents, $50 is donated to the foundation.

Other fundraising activities and events — such as a Foundation Race Night and Golf Day — bolster the network’s efforts.
