Australia’s auction activity was down in almost every capital city this weekend, with Brisbane the only city to record an increase in the value of houses sold, Australian Property Monitors has revealed.
The number of houses sold increased from eight to 10 for a total sales volume of $5.3 million.
Brisbane’s clearance rate also rose to 45.5 per cent from 27.6 per cent the Saturday prior.
Sydney also recorded a higher clearance rate of 69.4 per cent, up from 61.8 per cent last Saturday.
However, the city only sold 111 houses for a total sales volume of $77.8 million, down from the 123 houses sold for a total volume of $105.8 million last Saturday.
A Cronulla home topped the list in terms of sales price at $ 2.751 million; a Mount Druitt unit the lowest at $188,000.
Melbourne’s clearance rate fell from 80.1 per cent to 72.8 per cent. Just 75 properties were sold, down from 181 the Saturday prior.
Sales totaled $32.8 million, falling from last Saturday’s $90.2 million.
Adelaide’s clearance rate rose to 66.7 per cent. However, the total number of houses sold fell from six to four.
