Harcourts is marking the end of 2022 with notable mergers in NSW and Queensland, as it looks to build “bigger and better” outfits in key markets.

In the Sunshine State, the network shared that Harcourts Unite has merged with Harcourts North Lakes to create Harcourts Unite Redcliffe Peninsula-North Lakes-Burpengary.

Harcourts Queensland chief executive Mitch Peereboom referred to the unison as an “exciting new chapter”.

“[This] merges the existing established agency with the dynamic Harcourts Unite team who have been rapidly expanding through this region over the last few years,” he stated.

He noted that the leadership in the Unite offices — comprising Steve Hawley, Tara Hawley and Ange Morris — have “created a wonderful environment for agents, property managers and administrators to thrive”.

Mr Hawley jump-started his career at the North Lake offices while Ms Hawley was working for Harcourts Queensland before they took over the sales business in Redcliffe. In 2020, they added Ms Morris from Harcourts International as a business partner.

After opening their second office in Burpengary in 2021, the trio is now opening the doors to a third office — indicating the rapid expansion of their operations.

According to Mr Pereebom, the third location’s launch will allow the team to “attract more talented real estate professionals to further support the community”.

Ms Morris looks back on how their expansion journey unfolded. “From a sales team of just two agents and two personal assistants in 2020, to now and a team of 25 — 19 of which are women — with a vision to be the number one team in sales and property management for the Moreton Bay Region, and have a whole heap of fun along the way — growing together as a team!” she recalled.

Although they are thrilled about their expansion, the Unite team was quick to acknowledge the groundwork laid out by the team they are uniting with.

“Harcourts North Lakes has been a leading business in our group for many years, and we thank Brett Mason and Paul Considine for the incredible work they have done in this market,” they stated.

Ms Hawley explained that the merger comes at an ideal period, with sellers in their target market now motivated to make sea/tree changes.

“We have sellers on the Redcliffe Peninsula looking to make a ‘tree change’ to the Burpengary/Narangba regions, sellers from North Lakes looking at making a ‘sea change’ to the Redcliffe Peninsula, and so on,” she stated.

Ms Hawley reflected that the merger is a “long way from the end of the Harcourts Unite story” and said that they are looking forward to “sinking [their] teeth and team into a bigger area”.

In Mr Peereboom’s view, “the sky is the limit” for the powerhouse team. “We look forward to supporting this next phase of their growth,” he stated.

The network also shone a spotlight on the merger of Harcourts Dapto with Harcourts Shellharbour City / Albion Park to create Harcourts Dapto | Albion Park | Shellharbour in NSW.

The new office — which officially opened its doors on 1 December — will be led by Michael Garside, the current Harcourts Dapto director. Meanwhile, Daniel McConnell, the director of Harcourts Shellharbour City / Albion Park, will be moving into a senior sales role.

According to Mr McConnell, the “exciting development” is bucking the trend of businesses closing up shop in the local area.

“Unlike many small businesses throughout the Illawarra sadly being forced to close their doors in these difficult times, we, on the other hand, have decided to grow!

“With our two award-winning teams now combining as one, this truly ensures a successful and exciting future for our business,” he remarked.

Mr McConnell highlighted that Mr Garside’s 15-year-long run under the Harcourts network gives him confidence that the changing of the guard is “nothing short of a power play for our business to grow to levels I personally couldn’t reach without this immense boost”.

Mr Garside mirrored Mr McConnell’s enthusiasm for the expansion. “I’m excited about the future of this company. Bigger is better when coupled with Harcourts values and Daniel and my commitment to personalised service.

“This merger ensures our continuous high standard of service to our clients, where we provide the finest real estate experience,” he added.

Harcourts NSW/ACT chief executive Katrina Tarrant remarked that the coming together of the two business units, along with their leaders, resources and offerings “is a win-win for all involved”.

“The coming together of these two successful Harcourts offices to create the newly named Harcourts Dapto | Albion Park | Shellharbour is a bold and brilliant move!” she stated.
