One of RE/MAX Australia’s top central Queensland offices has changed ownership and name, but its new owners are no stranger to the brand.

Mackay-based duo Dan and Nikita Kinnane will take the reins of RE/MAX Results from Hayley Van de Ven, with the office set to operate as RE/MAX Select following a rebrand.

Notably, Ms Kinnane steps into the leadership role 12 months after joining RE/MAX Mackay Results office.

With a strong background in high-performing sales roles spanning seven years, Ms Kinnane made a transition to property sales in mid-2020.

In just two years, she reportedly sold over 42 Mackay properties valued at over $14 million. Recognised as a highly experienced and talented real estate professional, she now serves as a broker-owner, further solidifying her reputation in the industry.

Completing the broker-owner duo, Mr Kinnane brings extensive knowledge of the real estate industry, having transitioned from a career in business and finance that spanned two decades.

Ms Kinnane expressed it had always been their plan to “be in business together”.

“I’m passionate about real estate sales, we’ve been property investors ourselves, and Dan brings business acumen and valuable skills including financial planning and risk management, superannuation, taxation, compliance and corporate governance to the table as a real estate business owner,” Ms Kinnane said.

She shared that once they realised the opportunity to be business owners “was for real” and was wholly supported by the Results team, it was a “whirlwind of events” once things got underway.

While the office will operate under a new name, Ms Kinnane said all “key players” remain on the RE/MAX Select team, including property consultant Stacey Arlott and sales consultant Leanne Druery.

Interestingly, she revealed some of the relationships with her team goes way back beyond their working relationships, stating, “I’ve known Leanne Druery forever, our kids went to school together, and I’ve been fortunate to follow her career from success to greater success.”

“Having Stacey, Leanne and others on the RE/MAX Select team is an incredible honour and we will be working with our legends before bringing any newcomers to the sales team,” she stated.

With a focus on growth in property management, the new leadership aims to double the current rent roll from around 250 to 500 properties within 18 months.

Ms Kinnane highlighted the importance of expanding the property management team to allow property managers more time to dedicate to their own business tasks, facilitating improved efficiency and enhancing client service.

“We will have organic growth and also grow the rent roll through acquisition but along with this is a commitment to step up the perception of property management both from a public perspective and from property managers themselves,” she said.

Described as “born and bred in Mackay”, the new business owners have strong connections in the central Queensland market and are deeply entrenched in the local community.

“We are both in the Parents and Friends Association at St Mary’s School. Dan is an AFL coach and associated with Pioneer Valley Lawn Bowl. Many locals also know him as regional manager with SunSuper since 2017,” Ms Kinnane shared.

Looking forward, Ms Kinnane said they want RE/MAX Select to be known as “Mackay’s favourite real estate experience”.

“We simply love this region, and it is a wonderful place to live and invest in, as the people who are still pouring in from ‘down south’ — interstate and Queensland will attest to,” she said.

Giving a glimpse into the current market conditions, Ms Kinnane revealed “we are still selling a lot of property in our first weekend on the market but keeping up sale stock supply is certainly an issue, and we are experiencing sub-one per cent vacancy rate.”

“I can’t see things slowing. It is looking like a mining industry boom for Mackay circa 2024–25, plus local industry is expanding too,” she stated.

RE/MAX Australia managing director Joel Davoren recognised the leadership of previous owners Hayley Van de Ven and Dan Elliot, who own two other top-performing offices, RE/MAX Results and RE/MAX Bayside Properties in Brisbane and Redland City.

He said the brand has had “a remarkable chapter of growth” in Mackay, adding “the team developed to include some of our highest performing agents, have an incredible culture and consistently deliver outstanding results”.
