The program looks to level up the number of women in senior management roles across the property industry.

The Property Council of Australia (PCA) and Chief Executive Women’s (CEW) Woman Leader in Property Scholarship offers a chance for a woman in a leadership position to undertake advanced professional development with a $25,000 grant, covering both tuition expenses and travel allowances.

Michael Zorbas, PCA’s chief executive, explained: “For over a decade, the Property Council has prioritised enhancing gender diversity in the sector, and this scholarship will further bolster our efforts to increase women’s representation in senior management roles within the industry.”

“As a leading advocate for an industry that employs more Australians than any other, we know more needs to be done, and we hope this scholarship, combined with our other gender equity initiatives, will help advance this effort,” he added.

Mr Zorbas has urged “eligible candidates to apply for this wonderful opportunity to advance their career in property”.

The scholarship is exclusively available to senior women leaders in property, either chief executive officer or no more than four levels down from a CEO role, with five to 10 years of leadership experience behind them, and enables them to study an executive level course.

Additional application criteria include:

- Applicants must work in the property industry and be a member of the Property Council of Australia

- Applicants must receive endorsement from senior management of the board of their organisation

- Applicants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident

CEW committee chair, Deidre Willmott, expressed pride in her organisation’s collaboration with the PCA to deliver the scholarship, sharing her belief the program “offers the winner an exceptional opportunity to undertake an executive level course that will empower them to advance further in their leadership journey”.

“Scholarships like this are a key pillar of our mission to empower women in leadership, and the partnership with the Property Council will allow the winner to gain the skills they need to grow their careers in the industry,” she added.

Applications for the program are available via an online portal on the CEW website and will close on 22 October 2023. At the conclusion of the application window, a panel from both the CEW and the PCA will review, shortlist and interview applicants.
