A new Lendlease and JLL initiative has put “walking routes” around a number of Sydney and Melbourne commercial precincts.

A number of walking trails ranging from 10 to 60 minutes in duration have been designed across Lendlease owned and managed commercial precincts, with tenants encouraged to use the trails for walking meetings, physical exercise, personal reflection and to learn more about First Nations landmarks surrounding the precincts.

According to a statement from Lendlease, the development of the tracks was inspired off the back of a survey of office tenants, which found 68 per cent of respondents “highly valued access to outdoors and green spaces when looking at workplace location and amenity”.

The walking routes are accessible via workplace digital platforms, which include details on each route – including featured landmarks – plus a Google Maps link to navigate the paths on their phone.

Sydney’s Barangaroo, Sydney Place, One O’Connell, Darling Quarter and Darling Square are all serviced by the new trails, and so too are Melbourne’s Melbourne Quarter and 485 and 469 La Trobe.

While launched in October to coincide with Mental Health Month, the walking trails are part of a bigger push for health and wellbeing among staff.

Scott Meehan, the head of asset management at Lendlease Investment Management, said: “We know tenants are looking for access to nature, public space and fresh air in the workplace as they prioritise health and wellbeing, so it’s important we look at our natural assets in our places and find ways to connect people to them.”

He explained that “these walking routes aim to promote physical and mental wellbeing within our communities, as well as connection to country, to enhance the overall experience for our customers”.

For Hayley Di Martino, account director at JLL, the collaboration “exemplifies our joint commitment to creating engaging, healthy workplaces for our customers”.

“Our team’s local knowledge creates opportunities to showcase the hidden gems in the precincts we manage for Lendlease, particularly First Nations landmarks and places of historical significance,” she continued.
