A major real estate brand has collaborated with Fire Halo to protect Australian homes from bushfires.

The Raine & Horne Foundation has entered a new partnership with Fire Halo, an Australian company specialising in innovative bushfire protection products.

Raine & Horne offices and clients will be eligible for a 25 per cent discount on Fire Halo products, and the Raine & Horne Foundation will donate $10 per purchase to the Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund.

Fire Halo is a fire protection device that minimises the impacts of ember attacks by flooding roof gutters with water. A garden hose is plugged into a home’s main feeder pipe, preventing the need for residents to climb onto the roof to flood their gutters.

According to the Western Sydney University, ember entry and associated spot fires are responsible for 75 per cent to 80 per cent of homes destroyed by bushfires.

Angus Raine, chairman of Raine & Horne, said: “The proactive approach used by Fire Halo products saturates debris, and significantly reduces the potential for embers to ignite dry leaves and vegetation.”

He said that the partnership with Fire Halo is aimed at “reinforcing Australian properties against the risk of bushfires” and offering a “risk minimisation tool which mitigates the potential for a distressing repetition of the tragic events of four summers ago.

During the 2019-2020 Black Summer bushfires, the Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund “was instrumental in aiding thousands of individuals”, according to Mr Raine.

He reported that having raised over $600,000 for community causes in the last two years, the Raine & Horne Foundation continues on its mission to make a difference to everyday Australians.

Earlier this year, Raine & Horne agents from bushfire-prone areas shared tips for property owners seeking to get their homes bushfire-ready this summer.
