The government agency has announced the next opportunity for graduates to learn from its industry-backed program.

Valuation NSW has announced it is offering up to seven new graduate positions in property valuation.

CEO Stewart McLachlan stated that applications are now open for the second year of the agency’s graduate program which sets out to train and offer job opportunities for new industry entrants.

Applications for the graduate program have been open since Friday, 15 March. Submissions are being accepted until Sunday, 31 March, and successful applicants will be notified later in April for a late May 2024 commencement.

“Valuation NSW’s Graduate Program is a once in a lifetime opportunity to start your valuation career with mentoring from leaders in their respective fields who are responsible for administering the state’s valuation system,” McLachlan said.

“Valuation NSW will teach you how the property sector works while building analytical skills and knowledge of valuation methodologies and market trends to enable you to pursue a range of career paths in the industry.”

The 24-month long program will see graduates able to work in and around metropolitan Sydney and regional offices across NSW wherein they will experience up to four work rotations of roughly six months each, with different Valuation NSW teams that will seek to give inductees a vast range of learning opportunities and transferable skills.

Sally Dale, who became NSW’s first female Valuer General, starting her career as a graduate 30 years ago, personally testified to the profound impact and opportunities administered by Valuation NSW’s program.

“It was the springboard that propelled me to launch my own franchise business and later establish a valuation firm,” said Dale.

“My graduate experience equipped me with the foundational knowledge essential for navigating the complexities of residential, commercial and industrial valuations.”

Dale herself went on to lead a graduate program in her former role at a multinational in which her efforts aided in the firm growing its Sydney business from just five to over 60 valuers, making it one of the city’s largest valuation firms, prior to her appointment as Valuer General.

Hetvi Shah is another such proponent for Valuation NSW’s Graduate Program, having herself secured a full-time ongoing role as a valuer with the organisation after having undertaken the program last year.

“The hands-on experience and invaluable mentoring have set me up for success in my chosen career path,” Shah said.

“What sets this program apart is not only its focus on learning and development, but also its flexible working conditions. I believe it’s one of the best graduate programs out there for aspiring valuers,” Shah concluded.
