Together, the two newcomers will oversee over 130 offices in Australia and New Zealand.

Raine & Horne has welcomed Gary Hassett as state manager for Queensland, and Romilly Ashkettle as group manager for New Zealand.

Hassett has taken over the role from former Queensland manager Steve Worrad, whose “legacy of expansion” Hassett is keen to uphold.

Hassett will oversee over 60 Raine & Horne offices across Queensland and the Northern Rivers region of NSW, and has expressed ambitious goals for ongoing growth.

“We want to maintain a collaborative environment for our existing offices while also growing the group with the quality of our recruits rather than simply more numbers,” Hassett said.

“We also want to support existing sales and property management teams and help recruit high-quality talent to our offices by offering recruits a great environment in which to grow their careers.”

Hassett brings with him extensive experience in independent business management as well as sales and managerial positions at major real estate networks.

He believes his lived experience running an independent business will help him better connect with struggling Queensland principals who may be willing to join a franchise.

“I’m already talking to independents, and I can tell them that the challenge as a principal is that you must wear too many hats. Whether it’s the bookkeeping, keeping up to date with legislation, recruitment and retention, marketing, and social media management, you end up losing focus,” Hassett explained.

“When you operate an office within a bigger brand such as Raine & Horne, all those responsibilities such as marketing, social media and compliance, are taken care of,” he said.

Over in New Zealand, Ashkettle has recently joined Raine & Horne as group manager for the brand’s 70 offices, including 55 offices added in December following the acquisition of Mike Pero Real Estate Group.

Ashkettle has transitioned from her former role of customer success manager at software developer VaultRE. She also previously operated her own property management business based in Auckland.

Angus Raine, executive chairman of Raine & Horne, stated: “With her wealth of experience, Romilly is poised to make substantial contributions to the success of our New Zealand network, particularly as we integrate the 55 offices previously under the Mike Pero Real Estate Group into our operations.
