A gold cost real estate agent has been banned from the profession for life after operating without a license.
In 2006 agent Heather Filippini was banned from holding a real estate agents license for four years after being found guilty of conflict of interest charges.
According to an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading, Ms Filippini had gained an illegal beneficial interest in two luxurious homes she marketed.
Following Ms Filippini’s original suspension, her daughter assumed ownership of the real estate agency, however, Ms Fillippini continued to operate in the agency without a license.
Fair Trading Minister Peter Lawlor said Ms Filippini was a "serial offender who blatantly flouted the law by operating without a licence.”
"This clear act of contempt left the Office of Fair Trading with no other option but to request the Commercial and Consumer Tribunal to permanently ban Heather Filippini from the industry," Mr Lawlor said.
He said the life ban was a win for consumers and a warning to real estate agents to act responsibly.
Ms Fillippini’s daughter was also reprimanded and fined $6,000 for employing an unlicensed agent.
