Mr David Airey has been re-elected as the president at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIV).

Mr Chris McGregor, REIA Deputy President from Tasmania, was also re-elected, unopposed.

The AGM was attended by Real Estate Institute presidents and CEOs from all Australian states and territories. The Honourable Troy Buswell addressed the meeting for the first time in REIA’s history, speaking on housing supply and property taxes.

“It was a privilege to have The Treasurer speak at this event, and the issues he touched on are quite topical at the moment, in particular, explaining how the WA government is addressing land and housing supply issues, the time and cost of development applications and state property taxes, as well as the conundrum of sourcing investment for infrastructure, hospitals and schools,” REIA President, Mr David Airey said.

“I would like to thank the Board and state and territory Real Estate Institute (REI) members for their support and I look forward to leading REIA into the New Year and addressing some of the high priority issues for our profession,” Mr Airey said.

Key issues for the real estate profession for 2010 will include national data collection, the FHOG, industry awards, national licensing and standard contracts.
