The auction house has continued its national growth by recruiting an established auctioneer to helm its expansion into the NSW market.

As part of Apollo Auctions’ entrance into the NSW market, the brand has appointed Ricky Briggs as its head of auctions.

Apollo Auctions founder Justin Nickerson said that Briggs’ professional background and auctioneering expertise would play a major role in the brand’s move into the NSW market.

“Ricky is one of the most respected and driven auctioneers in the country. His leadership, values and results speak for themselves,” Nickerson said.

Briggs brings an array of industry insights and has called “thousands of auctions” across metropolitan and regional NSW in roles with major networks, and as the managing director of his company Advantage Auction Group.

He was also elected as the youngest-ever board member of the Real Estate Institute of NSW (REINSW), the chair of the REINSW Auctioneering Chapter, and chief judge of the REINSW Auction of the Year competition.

Briggs said the new role will help him fulfil his ambition to continue pushing boundaries and achieving client outcomes as Apollo Auctions expands into the NSW market.

“This next step allows me to continue that vision on a large scale; building a team of world-class auctioneers and raising the bar for what’s possible across New South Wales,” Briggs said.

While Advantage Auction Group will continue to service its existing clients, the company will now be backed by Apollo Auctions’ range of resources, systems and rapidly expanding national network.

Also joining Briggs is young NSW auctioneer Ollie Gearing, who will become the first official NSW appointment under the Apollo banner as the brand prepares to build a high-performance auctioneering team in the state.

With a team of more than 35 auctioneers across Australia and New Zealand, Apollo Auctions said the appointment of Briggs and Gearing was a pivotal step towards the brand’s goal of facilitating 10,000 auctions in 2026.

Apollo Auctions’ recently appointed general manager Greg Brydon said that Briggs was decisively equipped to helm the brand’s expansion into the NSW market.

“Ricky is exactly the type of leader we want in this business; high-performing, values-driven and committed to constant improvement,” Brydon said.

“This partnership ensures we continue delivering exceptional value to agents, vendors and buyers in New South Wales, while supporting Ricky to build something extraordinary in the region,” he concluded.
