Cushman & Wakefield appoints Trent Weir as national director, retail capital markets ANZ, boosting its Australia and New Zealand retail investment platform amid rising investor demand.
Global commercial real estate Cushman & Wakefield has bolstered their retail investment platform in Australia and New Zealand with the appointment of Trent Weir as national director, retail capital markets ANZ.
With over 20 years of experience in the property industry, Weir brings expertise across all retail investment classes with a focus on regional, subregional, neighbourhood shopping centres, and large format retail assets.
Weir’s experience comes from both valuation and agency roles, having provided strategic advice for financial reporting, asset due diligence, market rent assessments, and transacting shopping centres nationally.
He joins the Cushman & Wakefield team from Collier, where he held a position as national director in retail valuations.
Weir’s appointment comes at a time of growth for Cushman & Wakefield, as the firm looks to expand its presence in the retail sector.
Cushman & Wakefield’s head of investment sales, Australia, Luke Etherington said Weir’s appointment was a key milestone in the firm’s retail growth strategy as they continue to build a “best-in-class retail platform across ANZ”.
“His market knowledge, relationships, and transactional experience will enhance our ability to deliver value to clients across the full retail lifecycle,” Etherington said.
Weir said the Australian retail landscape continues to strengthen following last week’s rate cuts and can see some movement in the market happening before long.
“Three interest rate cuts and a lack of new retail supply have reignited investor demand for all retail assets,” Weir said.
“High-quality centres will again attract premiums, while secondary stock may alleviate future supply constraints and provide value-add or mixed-use opportunities.”
