In a creative bid to raise awareness, an anti-money laundering platform has enlisted a comedian to help agents understand the implications of the upcoming Tranche 2 reforms and ensure industry-wide readiness.
Anti-money laundering (AML) and compliance provider AMLHUB has taken an innovative approach to explaining the complex Tranche 2 legislation, coming into effect in July 2026, by teaming up with comedian Jimmy Rees to deliver an entertaining overview.
Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre's (AUSTRAC’s) Tranche 2 reforms will introduce a range of new compliance obligations for agents and their networks, including customer due diligence, risk assessments, and monitoring requirements.
While AML may not be an enjoyable topic for agents to wrap their heads around, AMLHUB Australia marketing manager Mindy Evans said it was “critical” that agencies understand the implications the reforms would have on the industry.
“The challenge has always been about making it understandable, relatable, and maybe even a little bit enjoyable to learn about,” Evans said.
“The bill itself is over 1,000 pages long, and for busy professionals, it is easy to feel overwhelmed.”
Evans said that AMLHUB had hoped that by taking a more comedic approach to the serious topic, it would make it more understandable for agents.
“Real estate businesses don’t just need software – they need understanding and support,” she said.
“This collaboration helps start the conversation in a way that people actually want to engage with.”
While the video may have been created to be entertaining and engaging, it serves as a reminder that compliance is not optional. Agencies struggling to understand the incoming changes can seek assistance from external services.
The video is part of AMLHUB’s broader education initiative aimed at helping real estate professionals prepare for the upcoming Tranche 2 reforms, and will be supported by webinars, guides and resources tailored specifically to the real estate sector.
