Knight Frank has announced the launch of a new Private Office, which will be supported by partners McGrath Estate Agents and Bayleys across Australia and New Zealand.

The new office will be led by Knight Frank partner and head of Private Office, Australia, Ari Petrovs, and will exclusively serve the needs of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) across every real estate sector.

Knight Frank said the decision to open a new Private Office came as data found that Australia was within the top 10 countries in the world for the highest population of HNWIs.

Petrovs, who brings over 30 years of experience in acquisition, development, sales and asset management, said the goal was to leverage the brand's international success to build long-term relationships.

“Knight Frank’s Private Office will offer discreet, tailored and trusted advice that sets us apart from our competitors through our global network of property specialists and coverage right across all the sectors,” Petrovs said.

“As well as giving clients access to our property experts across geographies, Knight Frank also has unrivalled research capabilities to give our clients confidence in their decisions.”

The Private Office team will be comprised of ambassadors, including Knight Frank chief executive officer (CEO) James Patterson, McGrath CEO John McGrath, McGrath head of international and private clients Adam Ross, and Bayleys chairman and managing director Mike Bayley.

Knight Frank’s global head of private office, Paddy Dring, said the expansion into the Australian market marked a significant milestone for the brand.

“By aligning our capabilities across luxury residential, strategic advisory and investment, we are able to offer an elevated, holistic proposition that reflects the sophistication and ambitions of our clients,” Dring said.

“Australia is a key growth market, and this expansion reinforces our commitment to providing exceptional, high-touch service to private clients and families around the world.”

With Knight Frank and Bayleys building a relationship since 2018, and the pair acquiring a controlling stake in McGrath in 2024, Knight Frank CEO James Patterson said that the timing was right to establish the premium service in Australia.

“Our offering will be significantly bolstered by not only Knight Frank’s global network, but the networks of these partners,” Patterson said.

“Collectively this footprint around the globe provides our Private Office clients with unparalleled expertise, connections and opportunities.”

McGrath Estate Agents CEO John McGrath said the new Private Office was uniquely positioned to assist premium clients through the partnership between the brands.

“Australia’s growing wealth landscape has created a clear need for a sophisticated private office offering; one that delivers discretion, strategy and true global reach.”

“We have already developed a strong working relationship with them globally that has resulted in some excellent transactions for McGrath and our clients, so to have a dedicated team here in Australia, I believe will be invaluable for our clients,” McGrath concluded.
