Harcourts Foundation backs inclusive employment with $12k Tas Textiles grant

The Harcourts Foundation has provided a $12,000 grant to Tas Textiles, backing the organisation’s efforts to create employment pathways for people with disabilities in Tasmania.

Tas Textiles operates as a Special Work of the St Vincent de Paul Society (Tasmania) Inc. and is a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participant workplace, offering supported employment opportunities through local textile manufacturing.

The funding has been used to purchase a Pom Pom Machine, a piece of equipment expected to strengthen Tas Textiles’ production capacity and broaden its commercial offering.

The machine has enabled the organisation to enhance its knitted beanie range by adding pom poms, while also supporting its ability to take on larger orders and explore additional product lines.

Tas Textiles said the new equipment would assist in developing workforce skills and allow the organisation to diversify into new products such as scarves, wreaths, toys and keychains.

The organisation also said it hopes the increased capacity will support future growth beyond Tasmania, as it looks to expand sales nationally.

Harcourts Tasmania performance coach Molly Gibbons said the grant was already delivering tangible benefits for the organisation.

“It was such a joy to be invited into the fabulous new space of Tas Textiles. The Pom Pom machine is already creating meaningful opportunities for the organisation, opening doors to new products and larger commercial partnerships. I’m thrilled to see how this will support their ongoing success,” Gibbons said.

It comes shortly after the network revealed that Harcourts South Australia, NAI Harcourts Pinnacle, and four Harcourts Local offices have participated in a number of charity initiatives, raising money to support cancer patients and children in need.

In late 2025, participants from multiple Harcourts South Australia offices have skydived thousands of metres to raise funds in the 'Jump for Puddle Jumpers' event, supporting vulnerable children and families.

Money raised from the event will provide children, who are mostly in out-of-home care, with food relief, mentorship, and opportunities for experiences.

Among the programs the Puddle Jumpers charity funds are camps and sibling reunification events, allowing children to create positive memories and enjoy being kids.

Another initiative saw a NAI Harcourts Pinnacle member compete in the 100km Mater's 'Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle for Cancer' event.

Commercial sales and leasing consultant Ryan Chesney joined 14 other members of ‘Team Family’ to raise over $13,000, securing their position as the fourth-highest team.

Additionally, four Harcourts Local offices have participated in the 'Day for Daniel', Australia's largest child safety awareness event, launched by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

The annual initiative, held on the last Friday of October, honoured the memory of Daniel Morcombe, a 13-year-old boy who was abducted and murdered in 2003.

The event encouraged participants to "Wear Red, Educate, and Donate" to support the organisation in its mission to raise awareness about protecting children.
