Brisbane’s top agents have taken ownership of five McGrath offices, combining expertise and high-quality service to expand the network and target growth in prestige and family markets.
Queensland’s top performers, Alex Jordan, Tony O’Doherty, and Jon Iceton, have taken ownership of five McGrath offices in Brisbane and oversee the strategic expansion of the network throughout the city.
The trio will take the reins of McGrath Paddington, Bulimba, Wilston, Coorparoo, and New Farm, with 28 lead agents and a rent roll of 940 properties.
The network said that the alliance brought together Brisbane’s leading real estate figures united by their shared vision and commitment to high-quality client service.
McGrath CEO John McGrath said the partnership was a defining moment in Queensland for the company.
“We are combining exceptional talent, deep market knowledge and a shared drive to set a new standard for customer experience in Brisbane and most importantly, deliver outstanding results for our clients.”
John McGrath said that the trio will be supported by an experienced team, creating a “powerful” real estate group.
Alex Jordan, Brisbane’s top-ranked agent, said the trio will focus on sharing their experience and expertise to deliver quality service, while supporting the development of emerging talent.
“We want to help agents not only increase their business but also to conduct real estate with the highest level of integrity and service standards rarely seen in the industry.”
Additionally, Jordan said that the partnership with the McGrath network will provide coaching and training, professional development, and help the team improve performance across key areas.
“John is the best real estate coach in the country and a great life coach. Having him as a partner brings a lot of opportunity for us to grow, and he can help steer and guide us to a high level in all metrics.”
Brisbane’s number 2 agent, Tony O’Doherty, said real estate is more than selling property, but about building trust and guiding clients through every step of their journey, which is especially important in a tight market.
“While stock levels are down 21 per cent from last year with a significant decline in available stock, this creates more opportunities for the buyer.”
According to the network, O’Doherty, who sold over $274 million in a 12-month period, has built a reputation as a top-tier negotiator, consistently delivering over-the-mark results for his clients across Brisbane’s inner east.
He said that the city's strongest sector has been family homes with good floor plans, with Hawthorne, Bulimba, and Balmoral showing steady buyer activity, including local upsizers or downsizers, interstate buyers, and movers from surrounding suburbs.
As managing principal, Jon Iceton will oversee the five offices across all key Brisbane markets, with a focus on prestige and acreage properties, in line with his partners’ vision.
“Joining forces with McGrath unlocks an incredible opportunity – not only for our teams, but most importantly for the clients we represent. We are united in our commitment to excellence, innovation and personalised service,” Iceton said.
“This partnership strengthens our offering and enables us to bring an unmatched level of expertise, energy and market intelligence and reach to the Brisbane property market.”
Jordan said Brisbane has performing strongly, with interstate and expat migration driving higher budgets and increasing demand, particularly for prestige properties.
He said that the city’s relative affordability, lifestyle appeal, and upcoming infrastructure improvements, including the Olympics, support significant growth potential over the next five to 10 years.
“I think this is the golden era for Brisbane,” Jordan concluded.
