A former farmer and Video Ezy business owner turned Sunshine Coast’s number one agent is among the latest experienced recruits to join Beerwah’s fastest-growing real estate office.
Place Beerwah has quickly built the largest sales team in the local area under the leadership and ownership of Andy Phythian, with many agents making the move, including husband-and-wife duo Andrew and Wendy Dobbie.
With a combined three decades in real estate, the Dobbies bring deep local knowledge and a proven track record, including Andrew ranking among Queensland’s top two per cent of agents and previously being named the Sunshine Coast’s number one agent.
Andrew’s background spans farming, nursery work and small business, including the first pizza chain and a Video Ezy store in Beerwah, before moving into real estate.
“I walked into an agency and said you’re going to give me the job,” he said. “They said, ‘Are we?’ and I said, ‘Yep.’”
Wendy joined soon after, with the pair’s different strengths quickly becoming a key part of their success.
“Andrew walks through a place and immediately knows how to fix things – he comes up with solutions and that comes from years on the farm,” Wendy said.
Prior to real estate, Wendy worked as a legal secretary and high school teacher, before going on to run several businesses alongside Andrew.
“I walk in and see what it could become and have a vision of how the home should feel.”
The couple said that balance helps them connect with a broader range of clients.
After more than 30 years living in the region, the Dobbies will continue their focus across the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Their decision to join Place Beerwah came down to alignment.
“Andy leads with honesty and integrity, and that’s really important to us,” Wendy said.
“The brand is the lead in marketing, service and support, so the move made sense for us.”
Within just two weeks of opening, six sales agents have already made the move to Place Beerwah, part of the Place Purpose Group led by CEO Robbie Lofaro.
Andy Phythian said the immediate growth reflects a shift in what experienced agents are looking for.
“Good agents are choosing environments where they’re supported to do the right thing by their clients,” he said.
“That’s what Place has and it’s what we’re building here. It’s why we’re seeing people make the move.”
He said the addition strengthens the depth of experience within the team.
“They’ve built a strong reputation over decades in this community,” he said.
“That kind of trust matters.”
The office is now open at Beerwah Village.
