This one will bowl buyers over.

After years of playing the field at the highest level, cricket star Ben Cutting is stepping onto a new one, and this time, it’s real estate.

Cutting has joined Place Kangaroo Point as a Lead Agent, bringing with him more than a decade of experience behind the scenes in property investment, development and buying.

“It’s always been there in the background,” he said.

“Now it’s become the main game.”

From sixes to settlements, Cutting said this move has been a long time coming.

“I started my real estate licence back in 2007, then finished it during COVID when I had time in quarantine.

“I’ve been investing, developing and building for a long time, and I set up a buyer’s agency a few years ago while I was still playing,” he said.

Cutting said joining Place Kangaroo Point came down to the team and a high-performance environment that felt familiar.

“It’s a smaller team, but they’re sharp, they work hard, and you can see the results they’re getting,” he said.

“To be around people like Simon, Courtney, and Michael and learn from them - that’s what I’m looking forward to.”

Place Kangaroo Point Director Michael Bacon said Cutting’s move into real estate was a natural fit.

“He understands performance, consistency and pressure, and how to deliver when it counts,” Bacon said.

“He’s also built a strong foundation in property, which gives him a real advantage.”

Director Simon Caulfield said Cutting’s local knowledge would be key.

“He knows the area, he understands what’s happening on the ground, and he’s been involved in property for a long time. That combination is incredibly valuable,” Caulfield said.

Cutting will focus on Brisbane’s inner-east; it’s territory he knows well. “I’ve been in the 4171 postcode for a long time,” he said.

“I’m out in the area every day - walking, running, seeing what’s happening with builds and renovations.

“You get a feel for the market when you’re that close to it, not just the homes, but the people as well.”

While he hasn’t completely hung up the whites, Cutting said his attention has firmly shifted.

“I’m still playing a little bit here and there, but this is where my focus is now - this is now full-time.”

For Cutting, it’s not about leaving one career behind - just stepping into a new innings.

“It’s different - I haven’t really had a ‘normal’ job before,” he said. “It’s time for me to grow up,” he laughed.
