An internal promotion has seen a seasoned professional pivot from local business leadership to a corporate role, leading Barry Plant’s growth strategy at a national level.

Tense Venneri has been promoted as Barry Plant’s head of growth, marking the next step of his career as he focuses on supporting strategies and strengthening performance across the brand.

In the role, Venneri will work alongside directors, mentor emerging agents, and help build stronger operational connections across the network of more than 65 offices.

Venneri originally began at Mildura Real Estate, the region’s largest independent agency, before becoming a partner seven years later.

After spending time with another franchise group, Venneri and his partners brought the Mildura business into the Barry Plant network in 2010, where he served as director and principal for 16 years.

CEO Lisa Pennell said Venneri had been a successful and skilled sales agent and business leader for years, possessing a deep understanding of the Barry Plant way.

“He ticked every box for the head of growth role, so this was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made,” she said.

Pennell said she had been looking for someone with strong core values and deep ethics, along with a sharp awareness of today’s industry.

“Someone who has been on the tools and truly understands what our offices are dealing with each day, but will also act honestly and transparently to support fair outcomes.”

As head of growth, Venneri said he intended to help the business reach its full potential by supporting those within the network to perform at the highest level.

“Barry Plant has always felt like a connected business, where everyone comes together to share ideas and learn from and support one another.”

“That collective spirit and real buy-in mean people are invested in protecting the strength and reputation of the brand.”

According to Venneri, real estate was about people, requiring professionals to earn clients’ respect and trust, surround themselves with good connections, and build a solid reputation.

Venneri said he was ready to step into the role, applying practical, on-the-ground experience to a broader leadership position.

“It’s exciting to be looking at it from a different angle now and helping the broader network continue to grow.”
