In a full-circle moment, an industry veteran has returned to LJ Hooker in a newly-created role to help shape the network’s future talent and create new mentorship opportunities.
LJ Hooker has announced the appointment of Ty Read as its new head of learning and development for Australia and New Zealand.
The network said Read had started his career as a sales agent more than 20 years ago with LJ Hooker Darwin, building his career in agency coaching and operational growth with the brand.
He went on to become a lead performance and growth coach, training more than 4,000 agents for various networks such as Belle Property and Hockingstuart, as well as boutique agencies.
Chief executive officer Christine Mikhael said Read would ensure agents and businesses were provided with the right resources to strengthen performance and productivity.
“Continuing to build capability and leadership across the network is a clear priority, and Ty brings proven experience in developing high-performing teams and a genuine connection to our brand,” she said.
Working with the Network Performance team, she said Read will encourage businesses to take advantage of in-house coaching, enabling efficient work cultures.
“We will also strengthen our learning pathways to continue to attract and retain great people and build a stronger talent pipeline for the future,” Mikhael said.
“Just as importantly, it will support the next generation of leaders through succession planning and leadership development across Australia and New Zealand.”
Read said he always had a long-standing connection to LJ Hooker, and felt fortunate to be returning to the brand that provided him with the opportunities to shape his skills.
“If you look at many leaders within the industry, they also built their foundations with LJ Hooker. Being part of the network really meant that you had passed the test of being a good agent,” he said.
Additionally, he said he was ready to help shape the network's future talent, especially with its 100-year celebrations approaching.
“I’m looking forward to strengthening LJ Hooker’s position as a leading network across Australia and New Zealand, while supporting our people and offices to grow, perform and achieve their goals.”
