McGrath has joined forces with Victorian agency Hodges, bringing together 172 years of local market experience and national and international reach to drive the network’s next phase of growth.
McGrath Estate Agents has announced a new partnership with Hodges Real Estate, operating in Bayside Melbourne and Rye on the Mornington Peninsula.
Hodges McGrath’s Bayside offices will include Brighton, Sandringham, Beaumaris, Mentone and Bentleigh, while the Rye business will service Rye, St Andrews Beach, Fingal, and Tootgarook.
McGrath CEO, John McGrath, said Hodges was Victoria’s longest-operating real estate agency, having opened in 1854, and remained a respected business 172 years on.
“Moving forward as we join forces with Hodges in Bayside Melbourne, we will be preserving their great heritage whilst integrating their team into Australia's highest performing real estate group,” he said.
“And now with our partnership with Knight Frank, it will give their team and clients access to a global market through the Knight Frank Private Office.
Hodges Beaumaris and Brighton directors, Michael Cooney and Julian Augustini, said the partnership was based on a shared culture and values, with both brands placing high importance on their teams.
“We both believe that attracting and retaining great professionals, and giving them the right environment to succeed, is key to delivering exceptional results for our clients,” they said.
“Hodges has always focused on our strong local relationships, with our people playing an important role in the communities they serve through long- standing grassroots connections and involvement.”
McGrath said the partnership came after Melbourne city recorded Australia's largest capital-city population increase during the most recent reporting period, adding more than 105,000 residents
The network said that as the city continued to grow, demand for specialist property advice, premium marketing and access to broader buyer networks was expected to increase.
Head of franchise network for McGrath, Chris Mourd, said the union of the two brands brought together complementary strengths to benefit both vendors and buyers in their property journey.
“For vendors, that means the local and trusted expertise that has defined the Hodges brand is now complemented by the scale and reach of a major national network with deep international roots,” he said.
“For Melbourne clients, this means something simple but powerful: while property remains fundamentally local, buyer demand is increasingly global.”
