A vicious dog attack in Brisbane’s north has left a local property agent unable to work as he faces a lengthy road to recovery.
Artier Property Group director Ajay Malik, 37, was jogging through Seventh Brigade Park in Chermside when two dogs attacked him around 6pm on Friday, 16 October.
He sustained serious injuries to his face and arms and was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
While Malik is now in a stable condition, the attack has left him unable to work.
“Ajay will be unable to work for a long time. That means a significant loss of income for him and his wife, at the same time as medical and rehabilitation costs begin to add up,” the family said.
“What should have been an ordinary evening became a frightening, life-changing experience. Ajay now faces a long recovery, both physically and emotionally.”
Malik, the director of Artier Property Group’s North Lakes office, has seven years of real estate experience and a five-star rating from 48 reviews on RateMyAgent.
The agent has received praise for his clear communication and customer-first approach.
According to realestate.com.au, the agent recorded a median sold price of $989,000 and a median advertising period of 35 days over the past 12 months, selling five properties as lead agent and three as secondary agent.
The family said it was raising funds to help cover living expenses and recovery costs over the coming months, allowing Ajay and his wife to focus on his recovery rather than mounting bills.
According to 7News, the dogs belonged to 22-year-old Layla Evans, who had been living in a tent at the park.
Evans said the dogs were secured inside her tent but managed to escape.
She was arrested over an unrelated matter shortly after the attack but had not been charged.
Both dogs had since been surrendered to Brisbane City Council, which was expected to decide their future as soon as possible.
